a JMS Comics fan website |
7 April 2002 Okay, I have no idea when I'll actually get around to making this a real site. I've got too much other stuff going on, and this one seems to always fall at the bottom of my "Things To Do List". BUT - I have new COVERS. All Straczynski-written Amazing Spider-Man covers are now online. And if you haven't picked up #39 - go do it! It's the "Silent Issue." No word ballons or dialog anywhere - and JMS still makes it really interesting and funny. And for those who wonder what's going on with Mary Jane - she's in this one. Until the next update ...

2 January 2002 Alrighty, then! Here we are at the end of the year 2001 and still no site. I have lots of excuses/reasons, but the biggest is always not enough time in the day. And I know it doesn't help to say I have stuff worked out on paper, but I really do! In a token effort to keep your interest in this site, I've scanned all of the COVERS for the Amazing Spider-Man issues that JMS has written. So if you see any of these, and don't have them, pick them up because you know the writing will be top-notch! Enjoy, and I'll see you next year.

----------------------------------------- 21 November 2001 The Amazing Spider-Man #36 is now available. It has a totally black cover and white lettering of the logo. It's not about Spider-Man so much as the superhero and mortal hero reactions to the events of September 11th. It's very impressive and was very powerful to me to read. Even though I didn't lose anyone close to me, I still hurt at the thought of those who did, especially during the upcoming holidays when those who are gone are going to be missed even more. And for those who can donate to charities, please remember you local charities, as they are being hit hard this year as everyone gives to the September 11th Fund and the Red Cross, both wonderful causes, but also causes that have received a massive amount of funds already.

----------------------------------------- 17 October 2001 Okay, The Amazing Spider-Man is up to #35, and JMS has ended his first (!?) story arc and is on to something new, as of the last page of that issue. No, there's still not a site here, but maybe, someday.

----------------------------------------- 12 September 2001 I am fortunate enough not to have family or friends directly hurt in the attack on the United States yesterday morning. Best wishes to all of you and yours in this tragic time, and sincere thanks to all of the men and women participating in the rescue and recovery efforts. If you can, please give blood - it will be greatly needed in the days to come. http://www.redcross.org/donate/give 1-800-GIVE-LIFE or in Canada 1-888-2-DONATE Donate money online to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund (212) 560-2730 for information on recovered or still missing people in NY
----------------------------------------- 21 June 2001 The Amazing Spider-Man #32 - On Sale Now! Hi - sorry, nothing new here. But I'm going on a long vacation (back in August) so then when I get back I'll be ready to do something here. No, really - I have stuff sketched out, and structure, and potential graphics and everything. Patience, Grasshopper.

----------------------------------------- 26 May 2001 The Amazing Spider-Man #31 - On Sale Now! Okay, so it's been a few weekends, and nothing has happened here. And suddenly #31 is out (I didn't realize it was a monthly comic, I have been spoiled by RS and MN). Anyway, here come the excuses: I'm really busy with Real Life, getting ready for Project A-Kon (I'm on the Video Staff and am giving a talk on music videos, putting up content on my anime fanwebsite CardCaptor Sakura vs Cardcaptors, work (we had some layoffs recently), and playing MYST III: Exile for stress relief. So, nothing has happened here. I have a copy of #31, it's cool, funny, sets up lots of interesting stuff. Go buy it. And (hopefully), there will be something here in the middle of June, before I go on vacation for a month.

----------------------------------------- 20 April 2001 The Amazing Spider-Man #30 - On Sale Now! I have my copy in hand (okay, it's really sitting on my scanner waiting for me to get to it this weekend. And I will .. I think). I have never read any Marvel comics, and my knowledge of Spider-Man was very spotty, and mostly based on the animated series (Spider-Man, Spider-Man, does whatever a spider can ...). Anyway, I also picked up Amazing Spider-Man #29, to find out what was going on and ... Mary Jane was back (the real one, not a clone). Hmmmm. Then, when I went to get #30, there was also the 'conclusion' to #29 in which Mary Jane was gone again. Hmmm. Whatever. I read #30, assuming it would be similar to #29. I should have known better - this is JMS after all. First - it was *funny*! Second - there are some cool new players on the scene. Third - what an interesting way to rock Spidey's world, with a simple question that takes him back to where it all began, and where all the assumptions he has lived his entire life under were formed. I hope to keep this site up-to-date for as long as JMS writes the Amazing Spider-Man. And, since I don't know how long that is going to be, I'm try and keep this site as flexible as possible, but it means things may move around a little if some area gets too crowded.
